A Few Thanksgiving Turkey Tips

Whether or not you win, here are a few simple tips to get the turkey on the table without the stress:

• Start thawing early. In the refrigerator, plan on roughly one day for every 4 to 5 pounds of turkey. A 16-pound bird needs about 3 to 4 days.
• Use a meat thermometer. A turkey is safe to eat when the thickest part of the breast and thigh reach 165°F.
• Let it rest. Give the turkey 20 to 30 minutes after it comes out of the oven. It stays juicier and is easier to carve.
• Save the leftovers fast. Refrigerate leftovers within two hours of serving.
